  The Great American Book Contest: The contest is the only national literary contest providing a forum for unpublished book-length prose manuscripts -- fiction and nonfiction -- with American settings. It was founded to provide American authors with an additional incentive for completing their literary works. Grand prize is $3,000.

   Chapter One Contest: A $500 prize and publication in Emergence V for the best first chapter of an upublished novel by a woman writer who has not yet published a book-length work of fiction. $10 reading fee for each submission. Each entrant will recieve a copy of Emergence V. Deadline for submissions is July 1.

Spoon River Poetry Review

  2003 Editors' Prize Contest: One winning poem will be awarded $1000 and two runners-up will be awarded $100 each. Winning poems and honorable mentions will be published in the 2003 fall issue.
