Editor, Kirstin Hotelling Zona. The Spoon River Poetry Review is published twice a year by the Spoon River Poetry Association. Each issue contains contemporary poetry in English from the U.S. and around the world in English translation, features an Illinois poet (a poet who has an Illinois connection) with an interview and poems, and includes reviews of contemporary poetry and poetic theory which address texts and issues in a balanced and intelligent way. Each year, the winning poem, runners-up, and honorable mentions of the Editors' Prize contest are included in the summer/fall issue. Recent judges of the contest have been Joe Wenderoth, Kwame Dawes, Gabriel Gudding, and Michelle Boisseau. The Spoon River Review publishes high-quality poems in any style that are as intellectually and emotionally ambitious as they are attentive to technique. Poet's Market has named the Spoon River Poetry Review "one of the best reads in the poetry publishing world." |
